Buon appetito! 6 Fashionable (and Fashion Designer-Owned) Milan Restaurants

When in Milan, do as the Milanese do… and eat at designer-owned restaurants where spectacular interiors are the perfect complement to fine cuisine. Here are a few of our favorites:

Ceresio 7

Twin designers Dean and Dan Caten, of Dsquared2, are the artful eyes behind Ceresio 7, a restaurant venue with a rooftop bar and – wait for it… – a swimming pool. Located at the top of the historic (and ornate) Endel building, the restaurant boasts a celebrity chef (Elio Sironi) and an absolutely incredible interior design: cosmopolitan blacks, smooth marble, and fashionable everything. And if design perfection weren’t enough, the view from the top is stunning.

Bar Martini® and Martini® Bistrot

Dolce & Gabbana partnered with Martini® to open this elegant bistrot restaurant. Featuring Milanese and Sicilian cuisine, courtesy of Chef Alessandro Chiesa, this boutique-adjacent eatery is famed for its aperitivos and cocktails. Fair warning: it’s so popular, it’s often hard to find a free table, no matter the hour.

Nobu Milan

Few things pair better than the sleek elegance of Armani and the fine cuisine of Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, as evidenced by the Nobu Milan. Open since 2000, this urban gem offers incredible Japanese-South American fusion cuisine and high fashion interiors, thus attracting not only tourists and fashionistas, but anyone seeking a perfectly prepared, perfectly plated meal.

Il Ristorante Trussardi alla Scala

Located in the heart of Milan, this Trussardi family-owned restaurant blends clean design and award-winning cuisine with views to match. We recommend ordering the restaurant’s unofficial specialty: a plate of fresh pasta and the recommended glass of red, perfectly paired from the well-stocked cellar.

LARTE

If you’ve ever wanted to know what a major fashion and design collaboration would look like, head over to LARTE. Headlined by Santo Versace, Alessi and Artemide, this bar / restaurant / chocolatier / art gallery takes pride of place in the former home of famed Italian writer Carlo Emilio Gadda. Offering authentic Italian cuisine while you shop – that’s right, everything you see is for sale – this new Milan offering is getting serious buzz.

Restaurant at the Bulgari Hotel Milan

Leave it to the Bulgari, one of Milan’s most spectacular five-star hotels, to also host one of the city’s most sought-after, designer-owned restaurants. The wine list is long and the dishes divine, featuring 500 of the world’s finest vintages (many Italian) and menu options, including suckling pig with seaweed, langoustine risotto, and a raspberry-chocolate tiramisu. Buon appetito!
